– The Londoner Hotel
Located in the heart of Leicester Square, Edwardian Hotels were not to be restricted by the St Pauls viewing corridor which meant only one thing, if they could not build up, they must build down and In doing so they have created the world’s deepest, inhabitable basement which houses 51% of the structure below ground, giving it’s moniker, ‘The Iceberg’.
Working as sub-contractor to EE Smith Contracts of Leicester, Arcitile Groups scope of works encompasses the full Dukkaboard waterproofing system install and fixing of Ann Sacks hand-made tiles with matching listels to the 350 bathrooms which are spread over 8 floors of the hotel. Being hand-made, these tiles have a little character to them and coupling that with 5 different datum points throughout the bathroom to strike, this was always going to be a project for our finest fixers.
As we are about to complete the 200th room and the scaffold is slowly peeling away to reveal her beauty, we can see the project is not long in closing out. Realising that we have been part of such an iconic new-build in the heart of central London is certainly something to behold and of which we are all very proud to have been involved in creating.
